General tire question
I have an 09 2wd CrewCab Silverado. 17 inch wheels. The General Tires from the factory have been falling apart in chunks. The dealer has refused to help out since "they had no record" of tire rotation (I have a reciept from the shop who rotated the tires). Then they told me that "I needed to have the truck aligned every 7500 miles", which is disputed on page 5-88 of my owners manual.
GM Corporate is involved and they have been less than helpful so far, but I did fax them all the documentation today and they are reviewing the case.
How many miles did everyone get out of thier General Ameritrac Tires.

Thanks bro...I am just really frustrated now, they only have 28k on them and they are trash. Car is driven on pavement, never off road. I just wish the dealer would stand up and take care of it, after it has been reported several times and I paid them 32k for the truck, cash....
Hopefully corporate will make this right.

You can contact General at 800-847-3349, or send them an email at Support Home Page. This may not be covered under warranty, but they will probably help you.

You have gotten probably 75% of the useful life to be expected from the average set of truck tires. The other 25% has an out of pocket value of $200. How much time and effort and money are you willing to spend to try to recoup that $200?
I have had less than stellar results with a number of tires over the years, as well as other parts (shocks on Tahoe that needed to be replaced at 22K miles, disc rotors replaced at 32K miles, etc.) and all I could do was incorporate the bad experience in my future purchase decisions and do more research.
I would recommend going to the nearest Costco and getting a set of Michelins mounted and forget about the General's. I do not expect stock tires, brakes, or shocks to last very long and make sure I buy the best I can find (never OEM) when it comes time to replace them.
The only car company that admits mistakes made and covers them for its customers is Toyota. The rest would rather litigate and stall or stall and litigate.
