I have a 2003 Siverado HD and cannot use the accessories mode with my ignition key, also my steering wheel never locks when the key is removed. Once in a great while the key can be switched and works fine untill I drive the vehicle. I would appreciate any help or ideas anyone might have.

There is no steering lock anymore, as for the assc. you trun the key the same way as starting it but just one click and you will see just your battery light on your dash. Its not like the old days when you would turn the key backwards for assc. at least not in my 03 HD.

 

Same thing with my 03 1500. The accessory mode is one click forward, and you'll just get the battery light on the dash. No steering lock on my either. No need for it with the stock anti-theft system.

 

If you have not fixed this already. I just put a new ignition harness in my 2000 S-10 and the plug that goes into the steering colum has a gear switch that meshes with the key switch. It sounds like it has jumped a gear or two. You can take you steering colum off and pull out the black switch on the bottom below the key switch and just rotate it backwards and reinstall and retry the key until it is correct.
