Got a 2003 silverado with the 5.3 and im having a problem with getting rid of a noisy lifter. It doesnt do it all the time it comes and goes. Ive tried seafoam and some other additives still makes noise! any suggestions?

 

What kind of oil are you running?

 

In one oil change, a small amount of diesel oil, less than

half a pint, may help. But you'll get a nasty diesel smell,

too.

What's the mileage on the mill, at this point? It's probably

not worth tearing the engine down. Run it till your gas mileage

starts tanking, big time, or the engine starts having bigger

problems.

Then the big question is:
1.-rebuild the old mill

2.-simply replace it with a crate engine.
