I have a 1999 Silverado 1500 4wd. I can not figure out why I have no 4wd in reverse, it works good in drive, but only rear tires spin in reverse. No weird noises, reverse works when not in 4wd. Any ideas? Thanks

Assuming you have the electric shift? Do your backup lights work? Are you getting the "Service 4X4" message on the instrument cluster?

no service 4wd light on and all back up lights work. is there a reverse gear in the transfer case? I was told that gear was bad?

 

No, there's no reverse in the transfer case. It is a simple in/out box.

Humor me, go put the truck in Lo 4X4 and see if your four wheel drive comes back in reverse.

I had truck in 4lo when I got stuck in a very small dip in my drive way, kind of the edge of the drive way. I have been using auto mode and seems to work, I really don't want to attempt trying to get stuck to really tell, but seems good on level ground.

 

I have a 2000 chevy 4x4 blazer that my 4wd isn't working in reverse. Works great going forward

 

what tcase do you have?

 

I'm not sure what tcase. I have a 5spd manual Trans with 3 probe l buttons on dash for the 4wd. I only thought I had 4wd going forward cause I could hear the tcase switch and my gear ratio will change to 4lo. But the front tires don't spin when I'm stuck
