I have never tried that but perhaps its a protection to prevent damaging the transmission... Is the fluid at proper fill, how does the fluid look, nice and pink or is it discoloring?

i just got the truck at gm dealer, all fluids were changed. i checked it is very clean and fresh looking and right at the level it should be. one other thing i should mention in the couple months i've had it i had a problem ONCE where i put it in reverse and wouldn't move until i reved it. but like i said it only happened once so maybe the gear shifter just wasn't quite in place.

trucker9,

Have you been able to let your dealership know of your concern. I certainly suggest you have your service adviser ride with you so they can help determine if this is normal operation.

Yes it is depending on temperature. When its colder out and temp of the fluid is colder it's thicker and harder to pump throughout transmission at its normal rate. Once fluid gets warmer and thins out it flows a lot more efficient and that's probably why you don't notice this problem when vehicle and fluid is warmer.
