Smile starting problems

I have 99 chevy silverado. Sometimes when I get in to start it, it will start right up. Other times it will turn over 8 to 10 times before starting. I have heard from other people that this could be fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator. Any suggestions as to which it might be, or is it something else? Appreciate any help.

Hi freshkapa,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

If your battery cables are original it's time to change them.

Welcome to the forum..

On my 97 Tahoe with the 5.7 I started to have the hard start and I added several bottles of Techron to a tank of gas and it temporarily cleared up...
That lead me to replace the injectors and poppets as well as the regulator since I was there anyway... you should check the fuel pressure thou as that is the least invasive at this point check it running and off to see how quickly it bleeds down...
