Default Truck makes clunking noise

04 Silverado makes a clunking noise at first acceleration - almost feels like drivetrain starts out first then the rest of truck decides to follow after it! Heard of this?

I had same noise when starting from dead stop. I greased splines on yoke of driveshaft where it slides into transmison and trouble was fixed.

I had an '07 that did the same thing. It is a yoke issue. Greasing will temperarily solve the Prob. I had to grease the yoke every few months. Took it to the dealer and all they do is the same thing. Should be a recall some where down the line.

could also be the intermediate steer shaft. If youbuy real good silcone based grease it will keep it from rattling for a few months. The factory shafts are not the best. $60-$70 from local auto store.

Actually the intermdiate shaft issue has been going on as well. I plan on greasing it too but looks like it will become routine maintenance as well.

I would use exactly what JuddKennedy said - a silicone base grease - but might I suggest something High Temp as well. Being near the motor it tends to dry it right off the shaft rather quickly.
