I recently bought a 2009 Chevy Aveo LT. When you put in the key the entire way the ignition won't turn. In order to get the key to turn you must pull the key out just very slightly. Is this a safety mechanism on this car or is there something wrong with my ignition? It does the same thing with any key that the dealership gave me.

 

I see that you've interacted with your dealership on this issue. Have you had the vehicle in to be diagnosed or serviced? If not I would suggest you do so. Was the brand car new when you bought it? Are the keys that they gave you the original keys, or are they replacement keys?

 

hello I'm a locksmith
the Chevy Aveo use the same key as a Daewoo
go figure
the tip of the key wears out making the key go to far in
so the dealer probably just copied you're key
take the car to a locksmith it dose not have a chip
and show him what it dose he should be able to fix the key

 

That's because the Aveo IS a Daewoo, made in Korea. Chevy only provided the design and the Chevy bowties on both ends.
