Default 01 suburban starter or what ?

I have a 2001 suburban. Having problems with starting. Just does the clicking ,sometimes turns over. Once it starts if you drive a bit it will crank right up.

Took it to my local auto parts to test battery and alternator and they said checked out good. Told me it was probably starter. Bought one and put it in. ( What a pain to get out !) Worked fine first few days. Although it did sound different and it sounded like something engaging and "grinding/squealing) as soon as it turned over if you didn't let go of the key right away. Now it seems to be having the same issue with the clicking and not turning over. Any thoughts. I like to do as many repairs myself but don't have any kind of test tools accept regular electrical tester, probe , etc. <!-- / message -->

Welcome to the Chevrolet Forum. Someone here can probably lend a hand.

Is it a one click sound or a fast repetitive series of clicks when holding the key in the start position? Also, what brand replacement did you purchase?
