Default 1999 Tahoe wont start / strange whining

My 1999 Tahoe was having trouble starting the other morning......after trying to start the truck about three times.....all I get is a whine noise now, no crank or anything....just something that sounds like a saw starting....anybody?

Welocme to the Tahoe forum. Does it sound like the starter is just spinning without engaging the ring gear? If so, you need to replace the starter.

Yeah sounds like the solinoid is shot but you can try hiting it with a hammer while you or someone turns it over if you need to get it started
