2000 - 2006 Z71 Longevity
Hey guys, kind of an open questions but....on average, does anyone know how many miles can be expected out of a 2000 - 2006 Z71 Tahoe. I currently have a 1995 Tahoe with 210,000 miles, I am thinking about upgrading to a Z71 sometime soon, I hope. Thanks.
I have 220,000 on my 1995 tahoe and 130 on my 09 tahoe... i've seen the 1995 series run past 320,000! the new one HAS to last to 100,000 miles... its under warrenty!
but, i damn well get better than 200 out of it, since my 1995 lasted that long...
wash it, wax it, tell it you love it, change the oil / filters / plugs... and it will run forever... also, don't floor it every day or nail the brakes...

Like everyone else is saying, just treat it right and it will last you a while. The typical tranny only lasts about 100,000 but, especially in a truck, they can go up to 200,000, in best cases. So you'll have to do some major repairs passing 100,000 but don't expect too much before that mark.
By the way...my uncle has a 2003 tahoe and has 180,000. He drives HUNDREDS of miles a day and has replaced the transmission, alternator, starter, water pump and some other peripherals but has not done anything to the engine other than change oil routinely, spark plugs, wires, etc...
So take care of the truck and the truck won't let you down...especially when it matters most.

I think it's very easy to expect atleast 200,000. out of it.
My 95 had 265,000. and was only on the 2nd tranny when I swaped it out and it was still running pretty good. My company has owned about 60 different chevy trucks, vans and tahoes over the last 20 years and every one of them saw atleast 200,000.

On the second tranny and had one other major repair...lower intake manifold :O
For instance, my 1997 S-10 has 195,000 and still original engine (no work) and original transmission (no work). I also towed almost 3 times a week a weight of 4000 pounds for the first 60k miles.
My cuz has a 2003 dodge ram with 215,000 miles that he uses for construction and tows 8000 pounds almost 6 days a week. Granted the engine is burning oil now but the transmission is still pulling the loads nicely.

I didn't know Transmissions went this fast. I never changed one in any truck/car I owned that went above 100k

so I was up there and was about time to have it done. The transmission wasn't completely failing...had small problems and wanted to change it out before I was left on the side of the road, my point is...I could've left it in the truck another 20-30,000 miles. These engines are built to last and you'll have to change the seats before doing anything to the engine, so it doesn't strike me odd if you haven't done anything to the engines :P
Blessed so far with 240,000+ miles on my Suburban with no work done on either the engine or the transmission. Just oil changes religiously every 3,000 miles with Valvoline. I am asking the Lord for 400,000 miles and maybe even 500,000 miles.
I just bought my wife a 2011 Chevy Silverado to replace her Toyota Corolla piece of junk.
