2002 Suburban Problems
I have a 2002 Suburban 5.3L that has stopped shifting into gear. You can depress the brake and physically move the shifter and it indicates that it is shifting but it won't actually go into gear and it won't move. It started at 50 MPH on the highway and it just stopped turning the engine. RPM goes up but the wheels don't turn. I'm just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on where to start or what might be wrong.
Thanks
Thanks
Welcome to the forum.
I take it that it does engage the parking pawl when you move the shifter into Park? Then, something's gone terribly wrong with the hydraulics (valve body, failed pump?). Check the IGN 0 fuse in the driver side I/P fuse block and then tow it in if not that.

That would be a 4L60E or a 4L80E in your truck.
Either one was pretty complicated transmission to diagnose...all electronic.
I would guess valve body failure or another major component since it failed at 50mph.
Unless of course the transfer case was shifted into neutral but I am guessing you checked that ;-)
I think towing to a transmission shop is in order.
