Default 2005 Suburban Ball Joint Question

Hi

I have a 2005 suburban with a 2inch leveling kit, I noticed the upper ball joints are all busted, the guy at the auto parts told me I needed to replace them with adjustable ball joints

how true is this?

the oem ball joint in the upper control arm is not meant to be pressed out; the upper control arm must be replaced. if you have aftermarket control arms they may allow ball joint replacement; pressing in the new joint into the control arm.

adjustable ball joints are for trucks with no camber adjustment. your truck has caster/camber adjustment eccentrics on the upper control arm. if you can't get the caster/camber in spec due to the lift kit...aftermarket control arms are available that correct for the lift and allow adjustment in the in spec range.

from the alignments I have done on 2 inch leveling kits... the alignment will still be in spec with the stock control arm.
to correct your worn ball joints...replace the upper control arms and then get an alignment.
