Default 2007 Tahoe 4wd will not engage

Four wheel drive light on **** stays on but front wheels will not engage. I can not get it to even show four low. I couldn't hear the actuator kick in so I put a new one on today. I can hear it engage now but still do not have four wheel drive. We have a lot of snow so I can't get it to a lift soon or a scanner. Any help would be appreciated. Also I don't have any service warnings showing up on the dash. Thanks and God Bless!

Non-use and low temperatures, complicate shifting issues. You might change out the Fluids fr/xfer/rear and drive it till things warm up as best they can, then, try shifting.
Often times a "rolling" shift in neutural helps.

Thanks for the advice! I will try changing the fluids. Do you think thats all it is or could it be the encoder motor?

I haven't been able to get it on a scan tool yet but I was able to put it on a lift today. Every know and then the front wheels would barely engage but could be stopped with your hand. The front drive shaft would turn while the front tires were rotated so the front differential is engaged. I am assuming encoder motor but will not be able to get it on a scan tool until Monday.

check the fuse in the underhood fuse block; for the front diff actuator. may be labelled 4wd fuse?...check your owners manual.
the tcase and front diff actuator both must engage.
