2007 Tahoe DVD Question
I have a 2007 Tahoe with a DVD/NAV system. When I play a DVD, then park the car, then start the car again....the DVD does not resume on the flip down screen.I only hear sound, but no picture. Any idea of what is wrong?
Check out www.coastaletech.com for the GEN4 Lockpick module. It will let you watch the movie on the frontAND rear screen while the truck is in gear. Obviously not recommended (illegal) for the driver to watch whenmoving but my wife likes to watch a movie along with the back seat passangers when on a trip. If you have the rear camera it will also let you look at anything you might be towing. It's about $250.00 + s/h but it is easy to install and works great.
Why does it do this I have the headrest kind, and I cant get it to resume at all, will the genlock fix this problem. I have to eject the dvd and put it back in to get the headrest to pick up the signal again. This really sucks.
If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.

Hmmm... Didn't think that GM offered a headrest option. Only the ceiling mounted & in dash. This might be an aftermarket unit that your dealer installed and if so may have a glitch that the installer has to work out. Sorry but I don't know if the Lockpick would fix the issue. You could try their tech line. They were helpful when I had a question.
I have a 2007 Tahoe (build date 12/05) with the same exact "condition" (I'll avoid the word "problem").
When I play a DVD, stop the car (say... to fill up with gas), when I turn it back on, the rear screen defaults to "off" and I have use the remote to turn it back on. I have small children so I don't let them use the remote, which means I have to dig around to find it, reach back to point the remote at the IR receiver, and hit the "on" button.
I have a 2007 Suburban (build date 11/06) as well, this vehicle behaves differently. The rear screen defaults to "on", under the same conditions. I turn the truck back on, the DVD starts to play, the screen is already on, and we're all happy.
Any ideas how to force the default mode to be "on" when restarting the truck / DVD? My Suburban works this way, so I know it is possible. Not sure if this is a factory programming issue or a user defined setting somewhere.
Any info would be appreciated.

Some customers may comment that the rear DVD screen will not turn back ON after an ignition key cycle.
This is a normal operating characteristic and no repairs should be made to the DVD screen.
Advise the customer to either:

Advise the customer to either:
- Eject and re-insert the disc into the radio. This method will restart the media from the beginning.
- Press the power (ON/OFF) button on the remote control to turn ON the DVD screen.
Thanks for the post! I forgot to mention, I have the nav radio in both vehciles but either way it appears the condition on the Tahoe, "is what it is". Given this post, GM is treating this like a "normal opertaing condition".
Both of their recommended fixes do appear to work but taking the DVD out is a pain cause you loose your spot in the movie. I guess I'll have to live with fumbling around to find the remote.
It'd be worth something to me if GM could flash a new firmware into the unit to change the default mode but it doesn't appear from your post that this is an option they offer right now. I'll learn to be "ok" with it.
Thanks again!

okay, I have 07 Chevy avalanche. it's not the remote, it's not the batteries.... the rear dvd screen will NOT ever come back on after ignition cycle....ever...never...only unless you manual eject and reinstall dvd. it's not the power button on remote nor is it the remote. I've searched and can not find out if there is a software upgrade to this activating problem. it's not the remote
