Re: Service Request: 71-1044166626
I understand what you are saying...but this is common problem for this Model and style dash on other vehicles..as far as the condition it was not cracked when I bought it you nor I would have paid over $25 k for a vehicle with a cracked dash...this is a defect and a safety issue...As far as an agent contacting me I don't need to hear from them I would like what ever they say in writing so ask them to email me at (c_moreno@mail.com). I have not been driving this vehicle due to fact that I afraid of the damage it could do to me or my family if involved I an accident.
Should GM decide to fix it I will pay the towing to the dealership. I am not please with the decision that GM will not fix it.
Thanks,
Chris Moreno

An agent is scheduled to contact you tomorrow (4/3/2012), to consult with you further regarding your case.

If this vehicle were in a wreck this pieces could cause serious injury or death.

I will begin with Ivan and his supervisor making the statement “you can’t believe everything you read on the net!” How about the fifty plus pages on this site alone? That does not include the other sites also addressing this issue.
Here is a brief on my experience. Left a post for Louis as others have. After your first interaction with him you will be turned over to another representative to handle your claim. I dealt with a gentleman named Roger who was eager for me to get my vehicle inspected. I had two other issues to deal with, one being the peeling interior door handles. I made the mistake of calling it a recall and was quickly told it was just a “notice”. So I guess I should have said I “notice” my door handles are peeling. Anyway took my vehicle to Jeff Gordon Chevrolet in Wilmington N.C. and was assigned to Gary. I dropped my vehicle off one morning and by that afternoon received a call that my other two issues had been handled but my dash was going to cost me $250.00 out of pocket. Gary was forthcoming and told me that it normally cost around $1100.00 for this repair. I went ahead and told him to replace it and I would pay the $250.00. I am unaware of the mechanics of this dash and what type of safety issues it involves but with three cracks and a number of plastic pieces found on my floor, I wasn’t going to take any chances.
I asked both Gary and another service representative if they have heard of this problem and both stated they have not. I find it hard to believe that I was given an $850.00 discount on a vehicle with 65000 miles with no explanation. Sounds like someone might be claiming partial responsibility. This outcome seems to be most familiar on this thread.

I took mine to Red River Chevrolet and the service asso. to me that this is a common problem and that his neighbor across the street has the same identical cracks and was getting it replaced for him. They do know about it as far as you coming out of your pocket for anything is wrong. They know of this problem and do want to fix it and its just not Tahoe.... Avalanche, Trucks , Suburbans and Yukon's have the same cracks. GM KNOWS OF THESE CRACKS. JUST CALL ANY DEALERSHIP...and it seems like @ $4.00 gas they would work with you, these vehicles glup gas fast! bad customer Service equals less sales.

Apologies if this has already been posted somewhere in these fifty-plus pages. OK, so you can't believe everything you read on the web. How about believing what you can see with your own eyes in a video?
The guy who filmed this walked through a dealer's used car lot looking for cracked dashes in 2007+ Tahoes, Suburbans, Avalanches and GMC Yukons. He checked six in less than six minutes. How many cracked dashes did he find? Just watch...

Done. My District Specialist has already been called and put on notice that a $500.00 deductible is unacceptable. If you and he can come up with a better offer, I'm willing to consider it.

$500??? lol the member above you was asked to pay $250...it sounds like they are trying to jerk you around. Stick to your guns...This needs to fixed at GM expense. Some one will end up hurt by these dash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) already have received complaints about the dash, and I assume they will receive more.

Looked in my Tahoe this Weekend, a piece of dash fell in....won't be long you will be able to see the wires. I am making a 4'x8' sign and parking this Tahoe on the side of the road, with the links to youtube Facebook and this forum and GM's Customer Service number. I will post pics ASAP.
