with the all that you mentioned in your previous post I would just trade it in or let it go. Your opinion on what GM is....go buy you precious Jap car, do you think they are without problems. I think you are acting like a baby not getting his way. Could it be true? BTW...the airbag will deploy regardless of a crack in the dash and if you think otherwise just buy out of pocket. After all your family is worth the 800 bucks right?

Dealer estimate to replace the dash in my Suburban is $1100, which seems a little high, but maybe not for California. My District Specialist says my out-of-pocket deductible will be $500.

Is there any consistency here? Some pay nothing, others a hundred or two, I'm told $500, and others are told "tough luck." It seems to depend on which dealership you go to and which District Specialist is assigned to your case.

Louis...if you have any thoughts on this I'd love to hear 'em.

You are absolutely right, just hope your district specialist is in a good mood. Mine was terrible after missing her appointment to call me, after making follow up phone calls she finally calls 3 days later. She never apologized for not calling or anything, she got straight to the point and said they would pay half (would cost close to $600 on my end)...PERIOD. Her words "they were not willing to do anymore than that". Needless to say after having just bought my son a 2012 Camaro, that will absolutely be the last GM car I ever buy. Terrible customer service and won't stand behind their product when it is blatantly obvious it is a manufacturer defect!

Just a thought,
For those that are reading this thread and are hemming and hawing about addressing a cracked dash you have...
do it soon as once GM starts production on the next body style of the Tahoe they will most likely wash there hands of the cracked dash issue, and it will fall solely on the owner to foot the bill....
Just sayin'

Default 07 Tahoe Cracked Dash

I have been in contact with GM as well and send emails...it is frustrating that they will not call you back. I was told by Ivan that GM will not replace my dash at this time, so I asked when was a good time, he really could not answer me straight. I have not drove this vehicle since I took it in last....GM agent told me to take it to a dealership which I did, waited a week for someone to call and I had to call to find out what was going on, he first told me that he was waiting on a call from the dealer..I told him I can get the dealer to call you if that is all you are waiting on, he told me not necessary. This crack was not in the dash when I got it and he said there was no way to prove it. I am not giving up this is a real safety issue, this crack dash could do serious damage or death. i also sent a tweet to GM they told my they where going to stand behind Ivan's decision.

email me if you want Ivan's extension and my case number.

Louis,

Ivan and his supervisor from GM said they don't go by what is on the net because anyone can post anything, if this is true, why do they use twitter, fb and forums, and post replies is it double standard...I as you can tell I am riled up.

It is true; anyone can post anything on the net. They cannot go solely based on what is posted, they need proof. That is where forums, FB and Twitter come in. They are another customer service outlet. Some solutions can be provided using these outlets; however, others require the vehicle to be inspected by certified technicians.

If you would like, PM me your Service Request number, so I can look into your case.

Re: Service Request: 71-1044166626
Mr. Moreno,

Thank you for providing your service request number. After reviewing your case, I have found that we are unable to offer cost assistance at this time, due to the vehicle being purchased at an independent dealer. Therefore, we have no record of the condition of the vehicle at the time of purchase.

An agent is scheduled to contact you tomorrow (4/3/2012), to consult with you further regarding your case.

Regards,

Louis

If this vehicle were in a wreck this pieces could cause serious injury or death.
