I am really discouraged by the posts regarding the cracked dash. I have a 2011 Tahoe LTZ that just developed a crack in the exact same spot (by the hump) as many others. The amount of people given the run around along with re-occurring cracks makes me wonder if I am just wasting my time trying to get it repaired. This is my first Chevy/GMC vehicle in 30 years so I do not have an established relationship with a service shop. I have another post about the navi-radio display turning on and off by itself. With these types of problems within 12 months of owning the car, not sure I can stay with Chevy/GM.
I'm sorry to hear about your cracked dash. I would like to look further into this for you. Could you please private message us your VIN, current mileage, full name, contact information, and dealership and we will work to get this issue resolved for you.

Add me to the list. I have a 2008 LTZ now with 69,450 miles. I have 3 cracks right behind the instrument cluster hump. I never noticed them until recently because I don't look behind there. I was making a list of problems with my vehicle for the dealer to repair under warranty. I have the extended GMPP with zero deductable - every option I could get for the extended warranty. The following problems just occurred in the last week! I took it to the dealer:
Passenger/front door lock - fixed under warranty
Passenger/rear window fell - fixed under warranty
Passenger/front door handle delaminated - ordered, to be fixed under warranty
Driver mirror won't retract - pending fix, but may be denied for scratches on the mirror?
Dash cracked - was told it was not covered under any warranty, including original factory warranty. Although my attorney tells me otherwise.
Transmission 'clunk' - told I would be charged this time because it is 'maintenance' item, even though the drive line is a non-serviceable part! I had this 'fixed' once before (which requires dropping the drive line and lubing the transmission yoke fitting).
Ok, I bought a 2001 Tahoe brand new, then I bought a 2003 Hummer H2 brand new, and then I bought a 2008 Tahoe brand new. I still have all three vehicles... guess which one has the issues - the latest one!
I really want my dash fixed! Why would the extended warranty cover an interior door handle, and not the dash board? The warranty is VERY clear on what items are excluded, and interior components are definitely not on that list. I also want my power mirror replaced! My power mirror has a few minor scratches (little ones) on the very edge of the plastic/chrome from one of the car washes, and this occurred 4 years ago! My fault for not retracting the mirrors. However, scratches from 4 years ago did not cause the motor to stop working last week! So that excuse is ridiculous. I am suppose to know by the end of the week about the mirror, although I am not sure who makes this decision.
I keep care of my vehicles. They are garaged most of the time, and when in use, sun shades are ALWAYS used.... I live in Arizona - we don't have a choice, we must protect our interiors or you would be burned alive in the summer time!
I have owned a LOT of GM vehicles... C4 and C5 'vettes, Firebirds, Camaros, etc... this is the only GM vehicle that I have ever had with multiple issues and questions about warranty. I am looking at picking up a C6, but I have to say that for the first time, I am genuinely leary about making the purchase because of potential warranty concerns.

JimDrew,
I apologize that you have experienced prior issues with your Tahoe. I would be more than happy to look into any concerns you may have. May I ask, have you spoken to anyone in Chevrolet Customer Care in the past regarding your past vehicle issues? Also, please send me your full name, VIN, contact information and dealership and I will do more research on your concerns, and try to resolve your current issue. I look forward to hearing from you.

I was offered a 'deal' on a dash replacement from our dealer. It is the 60/40 deal that some others are getting. This means my cost to replace the dash is $318. Considering that interior items are not excluded from the items covered under the detailed list provided with the extended GMPP warranty, and based on the fact that I am having other interior items replaced under that same warranty, my attorney feels that the dash has to also be included. Does anyone have the information on the class-action lawsuit that is being developed against GM for the dash issue? I read a post about it on one of the other GM forums and now I can't find it. I shelled out thousands for a warranty that was suppose to be identical to the factory bumper to bumper warranty and now I am told that I have to split the cost. That is simply ridiculous.

Yea, go ahead and add me to the list too. I am a lifelong FORD owner and my wife CHEVY. I was just commenting on how trouble free her 2010 Suburban was and that when my Ford hits 300,000 maybe I should think about trading for a new Chevy. That was until the other night. I go out to the garage and saw what I thought was a crack above the cluster. I took a double take thinking it was just a countour in the dash. Well, to my SHOCK, the dash has a crack in it. I could not believe what I was looking at. This Suburban is treated better than me. Washed weekly, garaged, driven gently and so on. Then I Googled the issue....HOLY COW!
I did contact GM and received a service request number, but still need to see what the dealer says. GM said, it is different because it is "out of warranty". I asked, what does that have to do with a known defect. She admitted, in writing, that this is a known defect. If it is admittedly a known defect, it should be replaced at NO CHARGE. So we'll see what the dealer says.

Well I was contacted by a 2nd District Specialist today. Although both District Specialist spoke broken English, the second Specialist said the case was closed and not to pursue the case any further. I can tell you this, I will never "pursue" buying another GM product. My office will never purchase another GM vehicle and best believe me I will spread the word at our statewide test and evaluate conference in October.
lburghoss,
Can you please private message me your name, VIN, mileage, address, phone number, and the name of your GM dealership so we can address this concern? Look forward to hearing from you.

On top of a cracked dash and peeled handles (which I got a big FU were not fixing it from GM) I now have a collapsed AFM lifter. This Tahoe, while beautiful on the outside, is the absolute biggest peice of **** I've ever encountered since I took heavy interest in automobiles 15 years ago. I own 18 year old nissans that run perfect and don't have cracks in the dash. GM can't fix this. Ill never under any circumstance purchase a product from any of their brands nor support any dealership. Ill check out what Ford has to offer....they didnt take bailout money anyways.
