Default 2009 Chevy Suburban HVAC control

Hey everyone
I'm new to the forum so forgive me if this question has already been answered.

My current hvac control unit has a couple of buttons that are worn so doing a search online I found the correct replacement unit which i've purchased.

My Hvac control unit controls dual air on the driver , passenger and rear.
it also has an "auto" button for auto climate control which i use quite often

When I remove the existing hvac unit and plug up the replacement, will this work or does this control unit require programming? if it requires programming, does anyone here or can anyone point me to a site that provides steps on how to do this? The dealer wants $100 to program and $100 to install it. Rather than fork out $200, I would like to try this myself

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
Jamie

Welcome to the forum.

I believe that this part requires dealer programming. Others may know for sure.

I would suggest installing it and then taking it in for the programming, might try planning it around scheduled maintenance like an oil, filter change tire rotation at the dealer and they may just throw the programming in for free or reduced charge....

Sorry to dig up an old thread but my 2009 Suburban has this issue and I found a website controlbuttonrenu.com that sells replacement buttons. Has anyone used their buttons? I can't find any pictures of their actual products.

Interesting site that you found. I think the easiest way without any hassle to you would be to replace the hvac module. (
Amazon.com: ACDelco 15-74023 GM Original Equipment HVAC Control Panel: Automotive Amazon.com: ACDelco 15-74023 GM Original Equipment HVAC Control Panel: Automotive
) Its not too expensive. I found one on amazon for about $131 brand new. Take it to your local chevy dealer and have them put it in as it will also require programming. I saved about $100 from buying this part at the dealer and sometimes you can get them to cut their labor charge in half

hope this helps you.

I have no problem taking things out and fixing them if it saves me $100+.
