Now everything works as it should... All the moons are aligned

This is kinda' my same question as well. Will this 2009 XM receiver work with the 2007 navigation head-unit (GM Part#15882766) right out the gate, or do you need a newer 2009 navigation head-unit in order for it to work? (GM Part #19169885)

 

So we're clear, you're using the 20807044 Navigation Head-unit and the 15945676 XM module and your Navtraffic is up and running?

Lastly do you have the Bose system with the rear entertainment system?

Thank you very much. I've already picked up the XM module and installed. The Onstar 8.1 module and BT antenna are coming in on Monday, and all I have to do is pick up the Navi over the weekend. Lookin' forward to everything being "stock", especially being able to use the Onstar microphone for the phone. Yeah booooooooooooooooy.

 

Has anyone had luck picking up the XM tuner at their local dealer or online? I just picked up a 2007 GMC Sierra SLT and already have a 2009 Nav radio on the way...would like to get the XM navtraffic tuner (and bluetooth onstar module) ASAP so i can do it all at the same time.

 

I didn't have any problems buying the XM receiver (that is capable of receiving NavTraffic data) at the dealership. I just gave them the part number, they ordered it, and I had it the next day. Took all of 2 minutes to switch the receivers out, did it right in the dealership parking lot; called up XM and gave them the new XM ID number, and added the NavTraffic to the account. Traffic was up while still taking on the phone with the XM CSR.

As far as the new OnStar 8.1 module, make sure when you go to the dealership to order the part that you give them your VIN number at the same time so it doesn't hold anything up. The way it works with the OnStar module is, they want the old OnStar module back. I forget the nomenclature that GM uses for this type of part and transaction. The cool thing is since I was going to have the dealership program the new OnStar module, the fact that they have to send back the old one, they're going to do the swap for me. Saves me some scraped knuckles, because I've taken out the OnStar module before to plug in some other cables. I hope to have this done by the middle of next week. Check back in with me then, and I'll give you the update.

At this point I'm still in the middle of trying to get the 2009 navigation to play well with the 2007 vehicle. I hearing from multiple sources that there may be some conflict, but I'm confident that it will all get worked out.

Doing everything at once is never a good thing when switching your stuff out, UNLESS you have a tech that knows exactly what is up. It's better to do one thing at a time and make sure that those things work before introducing another variable into the mix. I would make sure that the 2009 navigation works first, with all of the extras, RSE, reverse camera, has the proper Bose or non-Bose configuration. Once that's all confirmed I would hook up the XM and test that. There should be no problem there. Only after that would I do the OnStar. Again if you do it all at once and something doesn't work, there is a lot more troubleshooting involved, and you'll eventually have to go through each part one at a time anyway. Hope that makes sense.

 

What kind of problems are you having with the 2009 Navi and what have you tried so far? Was it a brand new unit or used?
