2012 Tahoe 5.3 Lifter replacement
After the dealership told us $4500 for half, $6200 for whole, our truck sat for awhile. Got quoted $3500 from another mechanic for the whole engine, but I figure I have too many tools that don't do much. So I'm going to spend the $950 I got it figured to now to order parts online & do the job myself.
Just looking for answers to a few vital questions
VLOM - Does it need to be replaced, or can it be repaired?
Without seeing it first is there a way to judge wether I'll need a Cam replacement? Believe Truck was driven less than 20 miles after the lifter blew.

I see it's pointed out here why VLOM replacement is necessary & why it was at fault for lifter failure in the first place.

Then again, they were all two-strokes, so kinda like having two cylinders, since they fired on every stroke.

I see it keep being said that if a lifter failed once, it'll happen again...
I've also seen it said lifters on these engines should be replaced every 60k, I'm over 110k. We bought the Vehicle over 80k miles with no service records, so no knowing if this or anything else had happened before. So if I replace all lifters, VLOM, Gaskets, etc... Can I figure I'll be good for another 60k+?
