Default 2017 Chevy Tahoe LT Transmission issues

At about 115k miles the transmission would make a slight whining sound as accelerating. Dropped the transmission pan, drained the fluid and changed the filter. The fluid looked almost like chocolate milk with metal shavings. The noise went away but started I get a slight shudder every so often when accelerating. About 125k changed the fluid and filter again and seemed the shudder pretty much went away. The fluid still looked brown with metal in it. Is this normal for a Tahoe Transmission to be that sensitive with fluid changes?

At your mileage you should be on at least your 3rd fluid change.
I would do another fluid change to get it to staying red. Fluid changes every 45k miles starting from brand new these transmissions will easily go 250k miles and more with no issues.
The severe duty schedule in the owners manual is your friend if your looking to get big miles out of your truck.

Default Thanks

I was thinking the same thing to change it one more time to clear it up and then every 45k. I was definitely late in the game on changing the transmission fluid and filter. Appreciate your quick response.

Default Transmission issues

I have a 2015 with 127K on it. I noticed a few slips and had it flushed. It failed completely within days of having it flushed. Just had it rebuilt and I have a rattle the increases as you accelerate. The rebuilt is under warranty so headed back in this week to adjust and fix.
I keep close tabs on fluid color now. Ours is called the Polarbear too...lol

Default 2017 Chevy Tahoe

Anyone had transmission issues with their 2017 Chevy Tahoe? I just got mines repaired. I have 91,452 miles on it. I didn't think the transmission would have gone out this soon. Was there a recall on these model for transmissions?

at 115,642 miles my transmission is shot and has to be completely rebuilt and replaced. Of course it’s out of warranty and Chevrolet has had multiple complaints about this type of issue with these transmissions due to the electronic shifting and if it would’ve happened 50,000 miles they would’ve had to have an immediate recall on them however I just paid my last payment and of course now I have to put a $5000 transmission in a vehicle that should not be having issues. I have called and filed a complaint with Chevrolet. They told me I needed to take it to an appropriate service dealer to have it taken care of and evaluated after already spending $250 at my very certified auto mechanic shop they will not except us so again I would be out another $250 plus to have it evaluated by a certified Chevrolet dealer to tell me the same thing. I am filing a claim with them in regards to this and I may contact the Better Business Bureau as this is my second Chevy Tahoe and I have not had issues with the other one and had it for over 15 years.

torque converter has come apart and has to be replaced. Transmission has to be rebuilt. AFM has caused issues with the engine lifters and cam shaft.
