2020 Suburban - Clunk when transfer case knob in Auto

2020 Suburban - Clunk when transfer case **** in Auto
I have always driven my 2020 Suburban (90k miles) in Auto (instead of 2WD). For as long as I can remember it has had a clunk in the rear when accelerating between 0-35 miles an hour. Finally today I tried switching it to 2WD - and no clunk. Same when in 4 WD - no clunk. Only when in Auto. Does this mean I need to replace my transfer case?
