I wouldn't touch any brand Diesel with a 10-foot pole. Later production or wait for a '22. I'd go for a '22 myself. LS motors are proven tough motors, a bad batch of lifters is the main issue.

Prior to my current 2016 BMW M5 F10, I had a 2015 Ford F250 Super Duty (diesel/deleted/tuned/lifted...blah blah blah) and not 1 problem. In all honestly, should not have gotten rid of it at 45k miles....such is life. Now on the fence for either a Suburban Z71/RST or Expedition Max Limited. Like the Suburban interior a bit more than Ford, but this lifter issue really has me torn.

The dealership had a meeting with the mechanics in Part 3, wanted them to work 6-day workweek instead of 5, and the mechanic quit on the spot. He was happy, took all his tools, left that engine all apart....went to work at an independent garage, now posts about non-GM vehicles too, says more challenging an interesting for him too. And his video skills are improving !!!

I ended up trading my 2021 Tahoe Z71 for a diesel RST suburban. Gas mileage is insane and hoping this ends up to be a blessing in disguise. I am hearing this pushrod issue affects both 21 and 22 5.3 and 6.2 models (and people have had failures even after all 16 have replaced). My suspicion is that over time the diesels value skyrockets.

I got 67.5 for my z71 with 11k miles (paid 65) and traded it into the dealership for the diesel suburban. So glad to have this behind me. Stoked to get 27-29mpg on the Highway as well! I’m guessing demand for diesels will go through the roof with the uncertainty of the 5.3 and 6.2s. GM pushing for this off until people hit 50k miles and it’s no longer their issue. This should be a lawsuit - how is a defective part that leaves folks stranded (possibly off-grid) not considered a safety issue?

I asked him how he liked it and he started telling me about how the truck has broken down twice with this lifter issue!!!! Last time it broke down the tow driver told him he's picking up Chevrolet vehicles all the time!!!!
