Here is the last update on the REAL problem. It turns out not to be the alternator after all. In the GM alarm I had previously disconnected, there was still a bad connector. The outside looked fine, but inside the connector the wire was broken. The GM mechanic was able to replicate the vehicle dying everytime by moving this wiring around. A new connector, has fixed the problem. What a headache.

I'm not looking for a check engine light, it sounds as though the anti-theft system is activating and I am just wondering if that is the case.
When you say that you disabled the alarm are you referring to the OEM anti-theft system?
What exactly was done to disable this?
I am concerned that this may be related to the problem that you are having.
