Sears craftsman 7 ton puller for about 40 bucks, they work great for this. Also you can rent a ball joint tool at auto zone, I had much better results with the 7 ton craftsman puller at sears, many people use the 7 ton puller some shop do also. You can also use it for other things when your done with the keys. As for the ball joint C-clamp I have a professional one, but I found they are a tight fit and the large screw on the clamps does not fit to well with 01 2500. might be better on a 97-99 though most use the ball joint tool on the 90;s truck. I guess there is more room than the 2000 trucks, they will do the job no problem , but be careful with either of these tools. the other tools is the real key puller, looks just like the ball joint tool. about $100 bucks. Renting the Auto Zone ball joint puller will require a deposit, but you get it back when returning the tool .

There are no other tools that will do this. please don't rig something up, you will get hurt. The tension on the bars is substantial if the makeshift tools slips you be in the ER.

Make sure your front end is on jack stands and the rear tires blocked. Don't pull the keys with the truck setting on the ground. Pull the front tires off while your at it, the less weight on the bars the better. when your done rock the truck back and forth push it up and down to settle the suspension. drive for it a day. then measure the sides. fender to rim, or fender to tire. then re-adjust the torsion key setting until your truck is even and where you want it. You might end up with a two day rental for the tool from Auto Zone. Also you will need an alignment when your done. depending where you take it. you could ask them to adjust the keys to the height you want in most cases it;s about 30 bucks extra. Then you don't have to rent the tool for two days. but you will need an alignment for sure after doing this.

Be safe.

You might not even have to replace them. The majority of the time the stock keys can get you high enough
