Default Air Bag Question

2003 Suburban 1500 LT 4WD. Truck was involved in a front end accident. Damage mostly on passenger side. Drivers side airbag deployed. Got truck back together and running. AIr Bag lite is on and the service air bag system alert on the DIC. I have cleared out all the airbag codes and the only code that wont clear is the B0051 code which states that the car was in an accident. Code cant be cleared. My question is there a way to test the front airbag sensors under the radiator mount to see if they are good or bad? SInce the car was in a front end accident could both the sensors be bad and need replacing, or would just the one where most of the damage was done be bad? I removed the sensor and ohmed it out. I get a reading with the meter when I clip to the terminals, but if the swap the meter leads to the opposite terminals I get "0" ohms. Not sure if this is the correct way to check these. Not too sure how they even work. I'm just trying to clear out the lite. Thanks in advance for any advice. The truck runs fine, no problems at all.

Thanks,

Chris...

Does it have pretensioners on the seat belts? If so they fire off with the steering wheel bag.

I dont think it has pretensioners. The seat belt seems to work fine. Its a shoulder strap that goes over the shoulder, over your lap and hooks on the right side of the seat.

|What are the Possible Causes of the Code B0051 Chevrolet?

  • Faulty Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM)
  • Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) harness is open or shorted
  • Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) circuit poor electrical connection
