Hey Guys,

I was wondering if any of you have done or know of/can foreseea problem with taking my 2007 Tahoe roof rack off and just putting the screws back in to sealup the holes (I don't want to weld them shut in case I'd like to put it back on). I'mthinking ofeventually getting a denali/escalade roof rack but I'm curious to see how this look turns out and if there will be any ensuing leaking or rusting. Thanks!

I would put some type of sealant (like silicone or something) on the bolts and it wouldn't hurt to put a little rubber o-ring (washer) between the bolt and the roof (keeps from scratching roof and keeps water out of holes)...other than that, don't see a real problem.

 

BTW, I put Escalade rack on last Thursday and it looks awesome...really makes the Tahoe look sleeker and lower...

Labhauler, a member that might be on here, took off his roof rack and then put some slim body molding over the holes. It's probably about 3/4" wide and flat black. It almost matches the other ridges in the roof perfectly. He had to slightly drill out the spots where the holes were because they are slightly raised. He siliconed the holes and then put the molding down with double sided tape. Looks great. I think he has a page on cardomain.

MCF34- Ya the escalade roof rack on the tahoe does look sweet and I really think it will off set my black vehicle w/ chrome lower mirror caps, door handles and stock chrome badges nicely--did you buy your roof rack from the member that sells them on here?
