If you have 2 chrome/polished bowties in your hand. One for the front, and one for the rear, yes you will remove the entire front and rear bowties. The front is gold with a black plastic backing, and the rear is gold with a chrome edging/backing. You will need to remove both! You can not just remove the gold on either one of them and plan to put on an aftermarket bowtie over the top. They are NOT recessed! So they dont just sit on top! Your aftermarket REAR will only sit on TOP of the PAINT with tape in between the chrome aftermarket emblem and the body of the vehicle. The front will be installed over the center grille area.

I dont have time right now, but if you search emblems in the tahoe section you can find pictures of both removed! Let me know if you need more clarification.

I noticed that on page 1 that someone took off the rear completely, cut right thru the tape and some plastic rivets or something. Are those removable from the back. Is there a way to remove that without damaging the emblem?

Ok, the rear is actually 2 pieces. Look at page one of this thread, you see just a chrome piece, that is actually the bottom half of the factory rear emblem. The gold emblem is a plastic cover that is just taped over that chrome piece.

Now, to remove the entire thing you simply would need to find a way to get in between the gold part of the emblem and the body. It is only held on by tape. However, there are 2 plastic "prongs" so to speak that stick out slighty and go into the rear of the vehicle. There is no way to get the emblem off except from the outside of the vehicle. It isnt bolted down or anything. It is simply taped on! Use the fishing line trick as much as you can. However you wont be able to go completely behind the entire emblem as the little plastic prongs will be in the way. I dont see the fishing string cutting the plastic prongs! So, you can work with the fishing line, tug, pull, pry, GENTLY until it comes off.

To remove only the gold top part you would need to do the same thing. Get under the gold plastic cover emblem, and on top of the chrome part. So in the middle work a piece of fishing line in a sawing motion to cut the tape. Once you have that done you can try to pull the gold piece off! However, as we have mentioned no one has been able to get just the gold top part off without breaking it.

This is why I want the entire rear emblem, or if someone wants the chrome look and can successfully remove just the top gold part I would like that! I just want to try and paint the darn thing! I know there are people that have removed this entire emblem, or jsut the gold part successfully!

Thanks Big,

I am thinking about it but it seems like it may require two people..one to hold the hair dryer and one to cut the emblem off. I do like the chrome look better than the gold.

By the way Big, did you ever get the Flashpaq if so how did it work for you, if not then anyone else.

Had the flashpaq for about 2 weeks or so. However, i dont think I have driven the Hoe more than 1 mile since I installed it. On that 1 mile there was a noticeable difference in several things. Shift points, shift pressure, throttle response, etc. I tried setting things 2 different ways, you could definately tell a difference.

To get this tuned the best possible way, it is going to take a lot of experimentation. Just like on my old dodge hemi, there were hundreds of pages of threads talkign about the different settings for that truck. They mentioned how it performed at all settings. That is what i would like to get going here.

SO EVERYONE, BUY THE DAMN SUPERCHIPS and lets give some opinions on the settings.

Lastly, yes I think it is one of the best purchased. I purchased one for my Dodge Ram Hemi and was instantly sold on this for every future vehicle. The ability to change the tire size was enough for me!

On the front the WHOLE bowtie is actually the plastic/gold with the black plastic liner around it. Here is my front with the WHOLE bowtie removed.

Just give it a try. Reach inside and use a 10 mm socket to twist off the speed nuts. Then pry with your hand and it's off!!

On the rear the gold/plastic and the chrome surround ALL come off. It looks like you are debadged. Sorry no pics. You'll see some ugly body work and two holes underneath.
