Default Bowtie Emblems

Hi All -

I want to either color or-ordinate or chrome the front and rear bowties. I know how to paint the bowties. Also, I have read that I can "peel" off the gold cover on the rear emblem to reveal the chrome if I want to go that route.....

Q: Why can't I just "peel" the goldoff the front emblem? Or can I just buy another rear bowtie and "peel" off the gold and replace the front one with it?

THX!

Also, how do I carefully remove the rear "gold" cover without marring the sliver/chrome portion....I just tried to use a small screwdriver and taped around the chrome part and noticed I was starting to dent the chrome surround.

The front emblem will have two holes in it if you peel off the gold part, its not the same as the rear emblem. Most people used dental floss or fishing line to get the rear emblem off. I used an old credit card and slid it under the emblem the broke it off in pieces by prying against the card with a flat screwdriver. I used floss to pull it out and get the credit card in there. I never plan on putting it back on so I didn't care if it was broken and the was the best I could do to keep from scratching the chrome underneath. It will be easier if you park out in the sun or use a hair dryer or heat gun to loosen up the glue. As far as front emblems look at:

There may be other places out there but that is what I have found so far.

Here is a pic of what is under the front plastic..

also the bowtie disappears into the rest of the chrome on the new front ends. Painting seems better...

So, If I want to paint the front and rear emblems....I can pop off the front emblem and the rear one I would need to leave on the car for painting...right?

Pop off the emblems, paint them and re-install with new double sided tape.

You can risk popping off the emblem. I would be very careful. It is probably best to paint in place if you are capable.

They are like $30 at the dealer,I think. You may want to purchase and paint the new one then remove the whole original and sell it to make up some of the cost.
