Default Clearcoat Peeling on rim

I noticed on my 07 that my clearcoat is starting to peel on the rim, they are the 20" painted ones also the paint on the fan/temp buttons for the heat/acis peeling also. Will this be covered under warranty? Has anyone else noticed this on theirs?

Should be covered bythe warranty.

I have seen the clearcoat peel on vehicles where the strong chemical wheel cleaners are used repeatedly. I use only a mild dishwashing detergent onmy wheels along withlots of elbow grease.

You are correct that harsh chemical cleaners are tough on your wheels finish however dishwashing detergent is also one of the worst things that you can use to wash your paint job or clearcoated wheels.
Even Palmolive is loaded with grease cutting agents that remove virtually all wax and oils from the surface, only use dishwashing soap if you plan on immediately waxing the vehicle when done, it is also a great idea to wax your clearcoated wheels and avoid using wheels cleaners or getting tire dressings on your wheels.

I don't get near the body with dishwashing soap...use 3M car wash.

WellI can say that I do not use diahwashing soap andI only use Meguires products but I do use there wheel cleares and dressing. But I would hope that wouldn't be harsh enough to make it peel. But maybe it does, it is only about the size of an eraserhead. I also noticed after they rebalaneced my wheels where the old weights the clearcoat is chipping/peeling there would they cover that also?

Thanks for the replies.

Damage from wheel weight removal is not covered under the new car warranty.

What about the wheel weight just wearing thru the clear coat as it remains on the wheel? Main reason I switched to hidden stick-ons.
