Has anyone upgraded the high beam headlights in a 2015 Tahoe yet? If so what did you use? I tried to switch them out to a piaa super white set and had no luck. The 9005 bulb would install and the standard wiring worked but we could not get the bulb to align. We tried 2 different piaa bulbs without any success.

The bulb pointed at the ground and the other was totally diffused. There is no left and right alignment only a up and down.
When we put the original back in, it seemed to take some finagling to get it to work. Align properly.
In short the bulb does not simply insert, twist and seat properly.

Not an hid install.

 

Anybody change them? Results?

 

I think you'll find slim responses until more people buy the 2015s...

And, the older I get, the more I prefer to leave OEM stuff alone... especially on a 2015.

While even I don't often understand why an OEM part does something or look a certain way, often replacing it w/aftermarket reveals that the OEM part was... actually better.

The headlights on my 2009 work very well and light up the road much, much, (SO much) better than my 1995.

We tried some PIAA lights in my wife's car. Sure they were brighter... and very clean looking... and the bulbs burned out in 3 months... the OEM ones lasted YEARS.

Modify away, but watch out for unintended consequences.

 

I agree with not modifying oem stuff. The bulbs list out as 9005. I was thinking this was going to be a simple switch. Plug and play.

 

I too have become of that same line of thinking... my 07 still has the original lamps in the Hi and Lo beams, I have been considering the Sylvania SZ SilverStar zXe lamps but when I replaced the bulbs in my wife vehicle with the whiter brighter bulbs I too had the same results of burn out after a few months...

 

And from what I hear and read, the GMT900 headlight bulbs are not very easy to change out.

 

The lights are as difficult as the 07-14's. What they don't have are individual adjustments for up/down and left/right.

They spent so much time trying to install the superwhites. I just gave up.

I'm not looking forward to headlight replacements on mine... 2009 and still burning!

 

Not sure if this will help, but I scanned the Internet to find info on changing the Fog lamps on my 2015 Burb. Looks like the Denali boys are using Putco Optic 360 for the Fog lights, and Philips LED OE921 for back up lights. Guess I will pull the trigger and report back if they are the same. So far they look like they are.
