Did complete interior swap, now tahoe wont start =(
OK so let me give you the 411 on everything. I was able to get a good deal on the complete black interior of a black LTZ tahoe, changing from my LT1 gray cloth interior. The swap was lengthy but pretty smooth, the most difficult area was the dash (naturally). I was given a complete dash intact (from a crashed LTZ 4x4 Tahoe), no wires were cut, all harnesses and plugs were still attatched. I removed my dash and installed the new one, when I removed the old dash, I basically removed all plugs leading from the dash and BCM out to the fuse box under the hood. Installing the new dash was basically just reverse process, but obviously the new dash came with a few more harnesses. The new dash came with digital a/c, dvd radio (not navigation), xm, onstar, where I did not have that before. I ran the new cables coming from the bcm back under the hood, eveything went back fine EXCEPT for one big harness that connects under the fuse box, its slightly larger than the harness I had in the other dash so it wont connect. It looks like the harness leads to the engine computer located behind the driver headlight. Keep in mind im using the new BCM that came with the new dash as well as the new interior side fuse box located on the drivers side. I try to turn on the car and it doesnt crank, the ignition turns on, the dash lights up, i get service 4x4 and trac etc.. I also notice that my locks and windows dont work either. (Remember that I also changed the door panels including new LTZ switches with folding mirrors.) I decided to swapping BCMs to my old bcm as well as the drivers fuse box and the locks and windows being to work, even the power folding mirrors. The radio is obviously locked since I changed the BCM but still no crank from the engine. I did not change the steering column or steering wheel. Im thinking there are two options. Either the car needs to be reprogrammed from the dealer or I would need a engine computer from an LTZ tahoe compatible with the dash and BCM. What do you all think? I'm going to chevy tomorrow to see what they say I have a few friends in the service department but I would like to get some input form you guys. BTW the digital A/C DOES work so i'm extremely happy about that and my new black interior looks great. Thanks for your help and ideas in advance.
Wonder if it has anything to do with the convenient start feature. You just have to turn the key to the crank position and it cranks its self you don’t have to hold it.
Just a thought, but I think you might be right about the programming

You have to reflash all the modules. The dash has BCM (needs to read VIN acts like the server) you also have the theft deterent module in the stering collumn this is the main reason car wont start. You might have a problem reflashing the all the modules (GM does not offer any kind of suppord for anything like this), BCM's are locked by GM.
Each door has amodule and those have to reflashed. Basically all modules that were replaced will have to be reflashed.
Gm has just sent out a bulletinstating that they now charge the dealers open account $50.00 for any incident that requires VCI programming. I wonder if they would only charge $50.00 for the entire reflash or $50.00 for each module.

well at first i had the new bcm instaslled but then i replaced it with MY original BCM and thats when the locks and windows started to work. The car doesnt even crank, only ignition, almost as if the starter wasnt getting any signal to turn. I'm just wondering if my old modules need to be reprogrammed or the new ones that came with the dash and IF i need to buy an engine computer module for the same vin from the new car.
i also agree, i made friends with a tech at the dealer and he pulled the schematics for my car and the wiring from the other car. The unplugged harness has important cables, some being 4x4 which i wont use but other i will such as the accelerator sensor and gm lan high bus. I chopped the harness form my old dash and gave it to him and tomorrow he is going to connect the wires that I need, hopefully that does the trick I also had to put my old cluster back. I dont think I need to flash any modules but Im trying to get the new module to work so maybe i can have factory remote start.

luckily the tech at chevy was cool and he really helped me out. my car is running perfectly now, what I had to do is connect all the cables from my original plug and those cables that werent used would be left taped up. It came out so well you wouldnt be able to tell I did an interior swap unless I told you and showed you th pics. The only thing that sucks is that I have an airbag light on and supposedl its comming from the module under the drivers seat but everything seems fine I didnt have to disconnect that. I got the digital A/C to work, which im super happy about, BUT it doesnt work as perfect as I hoped it owuld but I'm not complaining. Basically its only staying on one temperatue, hot or cold, regardless of the temperature I put. The fan blower does increase and decrease. Also I am not able to switch between the cabin air or outside air (I dont knwo how to explain it its the button with the air inside the car and the button with the air comming from out the car). I'm thinking of finding a way to always keep that filter behind the glove box closed or try and find the cable that does that function. Does anyone know?
the reason its only hot or cold is because it doesnt know the temperature in the ltz theres a sensor about the drivers seat in the headliner that you need and you porbably need to flash it bc it probably also thinks that there is a rear seat system
i think the airbag thing is something to worry about bc if you got ****ed up in a wreck because your airbag didnt go off because you rigged up your interior you would be sol

yeah im trying to look into the whole airbag issue, apparently the module is not sending info.
as for the rear system, the rear ac works perfectly.. i can control it through the aux in the front and also through the rear controls in the center console... the rear DOES change temperature between hot and cold so thats working perfectly. Do you happen to know exactly which sensor it is you are talking about or what it is called?
Even though I changed the interior I ended up keeping my same BCM.
