Default fuel consumption of 2007 and newer 5.3 Tahoes...

The reason for this question is I recently finished a 5.3 drivetrain ( code LMG, flexfuel and active fuel management) intro my 1997 2dr 4wd Tahoe.
After all I am a bit disappointed 'cause this new drivetrain gets the same if not worse no. in the fuel consumption departement. With a very careful right foot I can get about 13,8mpg, nothing more is possible.
To get an impression what an original 5.3 Tahoe ( best with active fuel management) pls post your numbers.

Thx a lot

Harald

Default Mpg

I'm not sure I understand your question. My 1995 Tahoe 5.7L 2 dr with city and highway averages 13-14 MPG.

My 2009 Tahoe 5.3L according to the DIC has averaged 18.4 MPG this tank, and 21.6 last tank of all highway...

to me, the fact that the new one weighs more, is HUGE, handles better, has more power, and still gets BETTER MPG is down right amazing, since that shouldn't happen...

factor in rear diff gearing and wind resistance of a 97 to a 07...
the 07 is real slippery compared to the 97....

I have never gotten less then 16mpg and typically get 16.8 to 18 mpg back and forth to work, kids soccer, kickball and Lacrosse games.
my best mpg on a whole tank was 22 mpg

12 in town and 17-18 hwy w/ 19+ best ever but was 60 mph max. 3.73 gears. There's a lot of anecdotal evidence that the 4.10 gears get better mpg.

Try the search feature. And at the least it's probably better answered in a new thread or one relating to nav (this one is talking about the fuel consumption of the newer 5.3L engines).

Short answer is yes, search for "lockpick, Tahoe, and nav".
