Fuel smell

I did a search for posts on fuel smells but none of them seemed to be like mine, well, one was but it was posted 2007 and had no replies.
I have a 88 Suburban 1500 5.7L 350 TBI, which is about 5k into a rebuild. It also just got a brand new throttle body installed.
I do not smell fuel in the cabin but when you get out after driving you can smell some fuel towards the rear of the vehicle. There are no indications of a leak that I can see from a quick inspection.
The smell fades after a while so I am assuming it only leaks when pressure is there. I will be doing a more in depth inspection soon but I was hoping there might be a common issue that you all might know.

NoOb to Tahoes but mechanically inclined. Do you think it could have something to do with the Evap system? Was the fuel smell there since rebuild or did this just start happening?

I have only had the truck for a few days. I didn't really notice it until I was looking at the back rear tire after I had just arrived home and noticed the faint smell.
There does not seem to be a leak but maybe it is weeping slightly when pressurized.
That was my thought on it...

'88 wouldnt really have an evap system, did you do the throttle body yourself or someone else? Could have gotten too rough with the fuel lines that go down the back of the engine/bellhousing

Thanks Cleveland. I thought all vehicles had them or were mandated to have them.
Hopefully you find out what the issue is vmabuck. Gas smells are never a good thing.
