Hey guys,
just thinking about rebuilding my 01 suburban engine (5.3 vortec). The heads need new valves anyhow... I got now 165k miles on it. So I was asking myself how long/ how many miles does such an engines usualy last.

 

Depends on prior maintenance and care. But a quality overhaul should get you at least another 100K.

decided to do it...
pulled the engine and gave it to an engine repairer.
either we bore my old one bigger,... or better way: he made me an offer to get a short engine of a corvette. he said I will fit with mine, just wanted to ensure and give me a call back. he said I'd have >500ps!
If possible I do it that way for sure!!!

 

Assuming ps is hp, then he has to getting a Z06 engine (505hp) which would cost a ton. Not sure what you're getting.
