Default iPod / MP3 Player Question

I'm thinking about getting a mobile music player - what iPod or MP3 brand / model are you using in your Tahoe / Suburban / Yukon and what are your pros and cons. TIA!

I have a 30gb IPOD. I have yet to find a decent holder for it and am reluctant to buy the integrated one for the touch screen Nav because others have said it was quirky and lacked some functions. I love how you can plug the cord into the faceplate but it still has a whine using that cord. It's kind of annoying. So for now I love the IPOD but integrating it into the vehicle hasn't been very great.

I bought a cheap 4th gen (non color) Ipod 20 gig off of Ebay for $70. I have the Ipod Lockpick so it is basically a 20 gig hard drive at the very bottom ofmy center console and I never have to touch it unless I want to change out the MP3s.

The lockpick keeps it charged up and the interface with NAV touch works well enough but still no "shuffle" option.

Plenty of music in 20 gigs!

I have a 80g ipod in the glovebox which houses all of the tunes. Im running it thru the perpherial electronics piece. You can set up the ipod to shuffle when its in manual mode then switch it to advanced mode to get the onscreen display. Only thing is if you try to search for an artist or such it willstop the shuffle.
Lately I've been using my iphone instead and the shuffle feature is awesome compared to the ipod. When you set the songs to shuffle and disconnect the iphone it pauses the ipod section. When you reconnect the iphone it remembers the last song playing on the shuffle and plays it. I'm running it manual mode because on the phone it shows the album cover and I still have full control over the iphone. You can run it advanced but it will lock out the iphone.
I have no complaints with the limitations of the factory headunit and it is what it is............I have no engine noise thru the piece......

At this point I plug my Garmin Nuvi 660 that has the MP3 player and Audible player into the auxilary jack at the front of my stereo. I bought a right angle plug somewhere on Ebay to keep it from straining the 3.5 mm jack which I've had problems with other devices I've had in the past. No problems whatsover other then it's not built in.

This is the best company for accessory mounts.

I have bought and used their clips in every car I have ever owned.
The holder for your device fits snug without a single bit of looseness. And the install does not require any screws or damage to your vehicle.
They have made their holders specific to each vehicle and each device.

This is the best company on the face of the planet!

My favorite companies are (in this order):

In-N-Out Burger
GM
Garmin (best customer service I've ever heard of).

You have to buy both the device holder and vehicle mount. It will be the best thing you have ever purchased.

I use a holder for my pda phone on the center of the dash by the vents but there are other location mounts as well....
The mount is easy to make, it's getting all the wires connected with a clean look and ease of function.
