My 97' Suburban leaking oil
My 97' suburban is leaking oil and I can't seem to track where it is coming from exactely, but it appears to be leaking from the bolts around the oil pan. Could it be a gasket or loose bolts? please feel free tolet me know if anyone out there may have an idea what it is....Thanks
Indeed, there is a hefty seal between the pan and the motor, overtighten it, and you could perforate the seal.
Get ready to get dirty nonetheless, like any hydraulic leak other than coolant. Best bet is to get under there with a bottle of degreaser, a hose, and do some serious cleaning to isolatethe source. It may not be only one leak.
Cant emphasize enough to not overtighten. The way the seals are packaged makes it a pain in the butt toset it on the pan then place it back with out the seal wanting to "pop" off. Either way, its relatively a easy problem if that is the source of the leak. Have fun!

It could be the line for an auxiliary oil cooler. Or the transmission cooler. Trace the rubber hose and see where it goes.
I am not 100% sure about what that hose is about.
As I mentioned before - this is a 17 year old conversation about leaking OIL PAN. Not your issue. You really should post this in the appropriate spot for your vehicle, so that we know the model, year, engine and other info, so that someone can help you. If you have a 97 Suburban, at least let us know what engine and model we are talking about.
Thanks.
