Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
I have a 2013 Suburban 2500 4X4 I just picked up. It was a Hazmat response vehicle.
The horn does not work. The 15 amp horn fuse is live when the horn is pressed but I am not getting any power to the horns. I can hear the built in horn relay working. I can send power from each horn connector to power the horns. I am thinking that Hazmat people may have had a different set of horns mounted. There are 8 wires running into the fuse junction block. They have all been cut.
I need to get the Burban through my state inspection in the next week or two. I am thinking about running a ground activated relay from the wire through the steering column that the horn uses. I plan to cut that wire so the stock fuse and relay are not used. Does anyone have a schematic or know which wire I need to use?
After I get my paperwork and registration in order I am going to remove all of the left over wire that was for the Hazmat accessories. It’s probably 10#s of wire throughout.
What color is the wire at the horn? Look for that same color CUT wire at the fuse block. Check with a test light or voltmeter before re-connecting. Good luck
Got it all straight! Horn is working fine.
Took off half a day to work on it. Everything is buttoned up!
They had a orange and grey wire spliced into the horn inside the fuse block.
