Default No rear heat ...help

Guys I have 2004 Tahoe Z71 with just over 45K and the rear heat has quit working. Heat from the dask is as good as new, But the rear is a constant cold reguardless of dial settings. I'm sure this is just some sensor or something right?

Thanks for your Help.

Not a sensor problem, sorry. I have had mine worked on twice under thirty k. It is on the right side rear under the cover and it is called an actuator. I would like to know if GM is having a problem with this unit (twice within one year for me). I never did get a stright answer as to the cost. I watched the tech replace the second one today, 11/13/06. It took about fifteen minutes. He took everything off the right inside rear of our Tahoe. These two were repaired under warrenty and this one has a 12 month 12000 mile warrenty on it. Hope that helps.

The problem is usually caused by the rear HVAC temperature or mode door (actuator) not operating correctly (under-traveling or over-traveling) due to an imprecise electronic calibration, replacing the door actuator is the only course of action for repair at this time.
Engineering is currently working on an absolute fix to resolve this to save money on replacement parts, the problem is not very widespread.

I had a same problem, unfortunately it cost me 400 to replace it from a chevy dealer since it is not under the warranty for "Value Guard" customers.

I have a 1999 with the same problem - NO REAR HEAT - just cold air. Does the 199 have the same actuator or could it be something different?

Thanks!

I had the same problem with our 2001 Tahoe. To fix the problem we traded it in and got the '08. Been fine ever since! : )

Well, that's not quite in the cards right now! For now, I just need to get the heat working!

Do you like the 08? What kind of MPGs are you getting?
