Default Off Road in Sand

Hey there,

what would be the best setting for Sand Off Road conditions? StabiliTrak off? Shall I enable Tow/Haul Mode in order to generate more torque? Limit the gears from 1 to 3? Any experience on what works best?

Thanks
Lars

Welcome to the forum,

All great questions, seems to me that the traction control enable/disable is a situation dependent, with it enabled it will limit the power to the wheels and that could be a good thing or a bad thing....off road I think I would keep the tow/haul enabled all the time as well as in 3rd for the added torque

Tow/Haul mode raises the shift points but not sure how it would increase torque.

Well you just answered it: By raising the shift points. Basically the car is longer in the high rev ranges which provide more torque as per the engine characteristics

Also you get the torque multiplication from the torque converter.

Yes but only up to 1,000,000. After that you need to enable the flux compensator.

And I thought it was a flux capacitor.

No that's what they call it in the DeLorean. At Chevrolet they call it compensator. It's a copyright thing I believe.

Remember to air down your tires. If you're running 32psi air it down to 10-15. Better traction and you won't be rooster tailing everywhere.
