Rear Emblem for 2007 Tahoe
Ok...now you are confusing me! Is there TWO stick on overlays on the rear bowtie? Are you saying the TOP one is gold and there is a BOTTOM one that is chrome? I started pulling off the Gold Bowtie and the BASE underneath is chrome, but I do not see TWO stickon overlays.
So from what I can tell the chrome part that is left after the gold part is gone is lifting too. I am not sure how it is held together. I don't want to break the damn thing and have to buy an entire new part. Check and see if the chrome bow tie what is left behind is molded into the base part.
Ok guys. The entire rear emblem is attached to the body with double sided tape. The gold lid on that emblem is attached to that main piece with double sided tape. Granted there is a lot of tape but if you will carefully pry the gold piece up from the rest of the emblem it should come off without a problem. Once the gold part is removed there will be the chrome bowtie but it will be covered with tape. Clean off the emblem with some WD40 and you should be set.
The rear bowtie emblem consists of two parts. The part that appears as the gold insert is an opaque (transparent) yellowish colored plastic to which a layer of silver foil is laminated (the first piece). this part is taped (or sometimes glued) to the base piece (the second part) which is chrome plated plastic. Using heat will definitely help to soften the tape or glue. It will prabably appear that the chrome plating on the base piece is peeling off as you do this, but it is most probably the foil delaminating from the opaque outer (first piece). Just be careful and slow when removing the gold piece, this piece will sometimes break as you remove it. I find that using my finger nail to scrape off the glue/tape is easier than using a tool as I have precision control that way so I don't scratch the chrome on the piece that will remain on the vehicle. Good luck...it looks great!
No, you can't take it all the way off. There are two holes behind there that need to be shaved if you do. I body shop can do this, but they will have to repaint that piece.
I took my gold one off (broke it also while doing it), and it looks great. I was planning on cancelling my order from autoaccesories4u, but right before I did, I got an email saying the rear billet was on it's way.
Ohh well, maybe I'll sell it myself.
Thanks for the tip.

Thanks All! I took my gold piece off last night and love the way it looks with just the chrome underneath. Based on other peoples posts the front one is not removable. Has anyone seen a replacement that somebody with no body skillz can put on?
