Shift Lever Interlock
Okay, on my `99 Suburban. It has started to refuse to come out of park when the brake pedal is depressed. Sometimes it takes only a slight manipulation of the brake pedal for it to release, sometimes it can be a minute or so of playing with the lever and pedal. I notice sometimes if I depress the brake pedal fully, then release it slightly it seems to help. What can I look for that could cause this? Can the interlock be disabled? this happened yesterday on the boat ramp. It was embarrassing to say the least!
I suspect that the interlock is released by a switch similar to the brake lite switch and probably located next to it. If it's using a separate set of contacts on the brake lite switch, you'll need to check those also.
