Always had image dynamics. JL's would be second choice. HOwever, SPL is better on the IDQ's.

You blew a kicker? Man thats all I've used, never blown one before. I have the cvr. If I ever upgrade I would go with Rockford, JL or Kicker solobaric.

the type X is pretty big. you're gonna need some extra mounting depth. my friend has a single 15 in his Q45, and the box is huge. but it bangs and sounds great.
i don't mean to hijack this thread, but speaking of sub boxes....
i'm considering this type of set up.....

positives...
keep my third row
color match the body or interior
kinda looks cool

negatives...
low box volume
shalllow mounting depth

and i'm not too sure about rear-firing subs right up against the liftgate. anyone know how this effects sound quality and vibrations?
my previous systems have been installed sacrificing my third row for up-firing subs. i'm wondering what differences i can expect with this set up.

I'll jump in here.
DISCLAIMER: Al the info is from my son. I have limited knowledge of Stereo gear.
He'll be taking out the stock system and installing:
1)Pioneer 4100IB?
2)Kicker 700.5 Amp
3)Polk 6.5 w/Seperate Component speakers in the front?
4)Polk Co-Axial 6.5 in the back?
5)Kicker 10" Sub (possible custom box).

Now heres a question.
I know that certain companies make Custom Subs that fit behind Truck Seats (or under them).
Does anyone know of someone who makes one for my 96 Tahoe?
I'd REALLY like to get one that fits under the rear seat.

Now please be advised that a Loud/Thumping Sub is not THAT important to me.
I'll be 50 in Aprill and was raised on more of the Van Halen, Foghat, AC/DC.
Its more important for me to have great mids/Highs (hearing imparment), then it is to have a kicking Sub.

That box does look cool! I think bobby has an 07, and that box you referenced seems to be in an older Tahoe, is it available for the 07??

I want something that is downfiring, this way the sub cant be damaged by stacking things on top and opening the door, etc. Here is something a guy is working on. He is still working on it, he is modifying the length and a few other items. It is simple, but should work great. It is for 2 10's that down fire. It is currently designed with a flat top so you still cant stack on top of it, it will also leave room on the side as it doesnt go all the way across. The carpet is just some carpet that was supposed to be a close match to the 07 cashmere. This isnt the finished product. If you guys are interested I can give you the contact information for this gentleman. The price is very AFFORDABLE! I will be buying one when it is time for stereo mods, I am to busy with other stuff right now!

JoJo,
I can't seem to visualize where this would go in my Tahoe.
I have a 1996 2 Door, and wanted something under the rear seat and not "garbaging" up the back behind the rear seat in the Cargo area.

I also JUST found this made by MTX that is custom for the Tahoe: http://tinyurl.com/2hncg2

I think this is what I'm looking for.
