This is my first post on this site. I have a 95 Suburban 5.7 Ltr. Automatic transmission, about 125K miles. Yesterday I came home from a week long 700 mile trip. I parked for about 10 minutes, then got in to drive home. The first thing I noticed was that the little orange indicator that tells you what gear you're in was gone. As I started to drive I noticed that both the Speedo and the Tach were not functioning at all. All other dash lights and gauges were working. Then I noticed that the transmission was not shifting. It sounded fine, but would obviously start out in a higher gear and stay there, no downshift or upshift. The vehicle had been working flawlessly to that point. Today I checked all the fluids and fuses, no problems there. This afternoon, as I came up to a stop sign, everything clicked back on and all is now working as normal. I assumed that some kind of sensor or speed controller had gone out, but my mechanic says that the speedo and tach do not run from the same place, and he is scratching his head. It didn't help that the truck healed on the way over to his shop.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
I have the exact same issue just started today. Was in line at a fast food restaurant and turned my truck off to save gas. When I turn it back on it fired right up but I noticed the little orange park reverse neutral drive light wasn't there. I pulled it down into gear drive and went to pull up and it was slipping bad would hardly go anywhere. I immediately pulled out a line and out onto the street and started to drive but it was picking up speed slowly and wasn't shifting so I limped it over to a friend's house where I'm trying to figure out what the problem is I have no tachometer and no speedometer no indicator light on my gear selector. I've checked fluid I've checked fuses and everything seems good. I have been noticing a problem with my torque converter. Lately I've been getting the code for the torque converter clutch solenoid not engaging or functioning properly. But after replacing it and bench testing to make sure they were working, the problem persists. So I was thinking it might be a either a wiring issue somewhere in harness or a prob in the electronics. I've replaced the tranny two times before and have had same prob with tcc in all three. Both transmissions I have installed have been used, but I can't afford to drop 2k on transmission so here I sit. Trying to find something that will help resolve issue.
