Default Tahoe in the Snow (4x4)

For those of you who didn't get pounded by snow here's how it did.

From my understanding since my 4x4 Tahoe is one of the later ones (just got it about 3 weeks ago) it has the bridgestone tires instead of the Goodyear. Well today we ended up with 12" of snow and the truck performed better than I would of dreamed. Now I'm no 4x4 expert but with the 4 wheel drive on it was incredibly sure footed. It felt very stable and braking was equally great. This thing blew away my 4x4 1997 Suburban. On snow at 45mph it felt like pavement. I was very impressed. I like to spin all 4 wheels in parking lots to know it's working and have a little fun but this thing just hooked up. WOW....Don't change a thing with this truck.

I couldnt agree more. We got 8 to 10 inches here in central Oklahoma and I did as you.....had lots of fun. I actually got worried some members were complaining of their 4X4 engagement causing a loung clanking noise, especially in and out of 4 low...my LTZ sleigh had no such issues and performed just as you described and I had a 2003 Z71 Suburban to compare it to which I thought was the best 4x4 I had ever owned...until now!

P.S. My garage looks like that too...yuck!

I couldn't agree with you more! I slogged around Grand Rapids, MI on Friday. Not a lot of snow (4-6") but ice/snow/slush combo. My previous rig was a 2500HD Crewcab with BFG AT's so I wasn't sure what to expect from the Bridgestone "street" tires. Much to my surprise I had more traction than I ever dreamed. Both "auto" and 4WD worked great and seamlessly moved from one to the other and from 2WD). I was thinking I might need winter tires but my concern is 100% gone. Nice job Chevy!

I also live in the Grand Rapids area, my wife drives the Tahoe daily and told me that she liked the way it moved thur the snow.
We had a 03 Denali that did great in the snow, I can't wait for the next big snow so I can take it for a drive.

we got 17 inches here in kenosha wisconsin. My 97 not only handled excellent but i guarantee you wouldnt dog this 97 with any new tahoe. Love it. And i can still do most of the work myself because its the last year b4 they started crowding the engine.

I have the same 97 Suburban as my work vehicle and it has new tires. It's good in the snow but not nearly as good as the new Tahoe. I was in the same snowstorm only 20 miles southwest of you.
