Default TRANNY HELP!!

Hello all, I need some advise on what's going on with my tranny! I've got a 03 Tahoe 2wd that wont kick down when you lay on the gas. It just revs real high but nothing else happens. It seems to shift normal when you drive easy but not when you stomp it. Let off the gas after you stomp it and it kinda "kicks" and goes back to somewhat normal. I'm not really sure what to do. Is it going to hurt it if I continue to drive it and don't stomp on the gas? Is a sensor or they tranny going bad. Any ideas? Thanks.

Welcome to the Tahoe forum. Since I think the tranny is computer controlled, probably a sensor. Is fluid level OK?

Others here w/ have more info.

fluid level or fluid flow is the first thing that comes to my mind, has the tranny ever been serviced fluid and filter change? that or likeshark says a possible sensor or solenoid / valvenot opening at WOT.

When we bought the truck they(dealership)said it has been done. Fluid level is good to go. It doesn't smell funny.(fluid) What solenoid would possible controll it? I have a code reader will that show anything? The check engine light is noy on so I don't know.

I don't have enough tranny exp to speculate too much but I'd suspect its something internal to the tranny.

If you have a code reader it might not be a bad idea to check for any codes just to make sure the lamp isnt out or that a previous code hasnt been set.

I was gonna say fluid level or contamination; but it looks like that was covered...
