Default Tuned out DOD, Immediate Service Stabilitrak warning

I used HP Tuners to disable DOD on my 07 Suburban but, as soon as I did and restarted the truck, I got a Service Stabilitrak warning. Anyone familiar with this?

DOD = displacement on demand

aka

AFM = active fuel management

While I can't speak to the HP Tuner, but I have turned of my AFM system with my Bullydog tuner and haven't had that type of problem. Personally I would reset the tune to normal and drive a short while to see if the error happens with out the tune. If clear try reloading the tune and see if the problem returns.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I turned DOD back on via HP Tuners and things went back to being perfectly ok. Turned it back off, restarted and I got the warnings again.

Next thing I'm going to try isn't turning DOD off outright but - knowing DOD will only activate when a minimum coolant temp is reached - setting the coolant temp turn-on threshold high enough that DOD just never comes on.

I'm not really having any problems with DOD but would like to see what mileage and oil consumption are like without it.

Thanks again.

With my 2007 LTZ I found that the AFM didn't do squat. My average mileage has increased by 2mpg since turning off the AFM and installing a standard tune along with towing profile for the transmission. I had problems with my Bullydog the first time I installed it (strange engine code kept popping up), I contacted the tech department and they gave me some things to do that made a difference. Maybe HP tech might be of a help.

I went back in last night and tried it all again (set DOD to "disable" in HP Tuners and re-wrote the ECU)... this time, no problems!

I also added like 20 rpms to in-gear hot idle to try to get rid of the engine shaking and that significantly reduced the shake

Good to hear! I would be interested to hear if your mileage results are similar to what I found.

Wow! Mine increased from 15mpg on the highway to 17 with out the AFM. I could only dream of 19 from my Tahoe.
