Video/Nav Override
Yep I bought the Tahoe brand new 10 miles on it, and yes the navigation was installed from the factory. As far as the cell phone goes thats what I understood as well, I was hoping it could marry-up via a bluetooth cell. That would be correct as far as driving a constant speed, the nav will cut in and out. I switched immediatly to XM to see if it was also being effected and it wasn't. Of coarse hen I come to a stop the nav is programmable in this mode. This is my first day on the site, I will do some searching now that I now there is some info on some issues.........thanks for the reply. CT GMlockpic is closed until the New Year according to there message, I have read that they do not respond to emails and are hard to get a hold of over the phone....

Too much to type dude. You're going to have to do a search on the VSS (green and white wire). There are plenty of posts on this, and it's purpose. Again, it's just a lot to explain, and the info is already out there. I will ask you this though, as it can answer the question whether or not you have it already installed. Did you buy your truck with the factory navigation already in it? If the answer is yes, then your VSS is hooked up and installed, and you have nothing to search or worry about. If the answer is no, then search on my brotha'. (Let me know the answer though as it can help me to troubleshoot the problem.)
Bluetooth hands free via OnStar module, again you'll have to search on that as well, but my understanding is it's a module that plugs directly into the OnStar box. Once it's installed your Bluetooth enabled phone pairs up with it, and you're able to use your phone through the factory OnStar/stereo system. Just so you know it technically has NOTHING to do with your OnStar service. It's merely manipulating the OnStar module and allowing aftermarket Bluetooth handsfree kits to work through it.
For a guy like me it's useless as I don't like to lose my music to talk on the phone. Ha, ha. I usually only half pay attention to the people I'm talking to, as I'm listing to my sounds. LOL.
I'm still not understanding how one thing works and not the other with your GMLockPick unit. "Well the XM scrolling is not interrupted and will work after it is activated using the button on the door the nav is the only thing that will cut in and out, this is what I understood that you still need to activate the XM scrolling and Nav manually." Now when you say cut in and out, is this while you're at a constant speed you see it cutting in and out? If you notice it cutting in and out while coming to a stop and taking back off, that is normal.
I'm starting to wonder if both you and I have faulty units. Answer that question for me though on whether you bought your truck new, with the nav in it.

Good to know that your nav came with the truck. With that information I'm hoping that's the reason why my GMLockPick XM scrolling and nav destinations aren't working. (Though it will never explain why I saw it work at first.) I won't know until I hook it up. Let me know what happens with yours and if you get to the bottom of it. I'd like to hear what CoastalTech tells you. Please let them know about my situation as well, if you don't mind.
As far as your OnStar/Bluetooth solution, it's going to be easy as pie once you find the module. They're out there all over the place.

Is anyone with the first gen having problems like ropnjessi and tmw597? I just purchased the gen 2 lockpick now i'm a little worried i got ripped off. Anyone else out there with the gen 2 having the same problems? THanks! Happy Holidays!
Let me just preface this post with, I'm smiling and not saying this in a mean way.
People on this forum have to not be so quick to slander a company by the use of the words "rip off", "cheated", "scam", so on and so on. I'm not affiliated with Coastal Tech Electronics in anyway, but I am a technical person, and with that I do have to say that I don't think they're ripping anyone off. You have to keep in mind this product is pretty frickin' amazing in what it does, and I'm sure it's taken a lot of R&D to get it to this point. This is a "mom and pop" company for the most part so I'm pretty sure it's difficult for them to keep up with the demand sometimes as they have lives just like you and I. I do agree with most though that at some point they do need to employ someone even if it's just to answer phones and email.
As far as your shipment that is on the way. Again I don't feel you're getting ripped off, but keep in mind this is a new product, there may even be some bugs, but the product seems pretty solid, and they also seem willing to get people squared away even if it might not be on the time frame people would like right now.
Enjoy the product, and give CoastalTech a little bit of time to catch up with the demand. It's gonna' be all good.
(Mind you I'm saying all of this and I may have a faulty unit myself.) You're gonna' be straight Typerod!
'Tis the season!!!!

I installed the Lockpick gen 2 last Thursday and the video screen would cycle between the video screen, menu screen, and then the lock screen about every 5 seconds. I had to remove it after my navstarted locking up and my traction control stopped working andput a fault into the computer.

Did you pull the GMLockPick out, double check that the dip switches were in the proper position, make sure it didn't get bumped while you were putting the head-unit back in? It could be worth a try to pull it all out and just double check all of the plugs and the dip switches. Something could have got tweaked or pinched. It's worth a try until you get in touch with Coastal next week.
I checked the dip switches and #3 is in the down position just as discribed in the directions. That rules out that but it was worth a look.
I put another call into coastal today and they said they are closed until Jan 2. I know this doesn't fix my problem but at least they are not just not returning calls.

After re-reading the installation instructions, I noticed something that might be affecting my situation. The first line of the install instructions state to turn on the vehicle and make sure the radio is off, then procede to hook the harness up. I did not take this step I simply installed it with the Tahoe ignition off. This could be the difference, once again this morning when starting the Tahoe up for the first of the day the nav system was blank, once restarted within a minute or so everything was online. I agree with TMW597 the product seems to be ok just a couple of kinks in possibly the install. We'll see this weekend I'll pull it out and follow those instructions to a "T'.
