There are multiple reasons why the Check Engine light may come on. Was the light on when you had the vehicle serviced? Could you provide additional details? Did anything happen before the light came on?

I look forward to your reply.

the idiot light hasn't been improved in years, even though your car has a screen that could easily show the issue... if it told you what was wrong... service places couldn't rip you off.

Let's start at the beginning:

1. year make model?
2. what kind of gas are you using?
3. when did the light come on?

SabrToothSqrl asks some great questions. I see that you are referring to a Tahoe vehicle, what year is it? What kind of gas are you using? Have you always used the same gas or did you use a different gas as a trial?

Any additional information you can provide will help.

This thread is somewhat lacking in crucial details. Where is this mechanic located (am talking geography) and, if it were North America, what language does he speak? He either lacks proper equipment or communication skills.

We may not have enough info however I can tell you it is not "from the gas your using".
